You will learn about the NHS screening programmes offered in Wales, which can help you make a difference in your community. 

The Screening Division of Public Health Wales delivers national screening programmes in Wales.  For more information about the different screening programmes visit the screening page.

Is this session for me?

We know that it is sometimes difficult to get the right information about NHS screening in Wales.  People who support others in the community are highly skilled and well placed to share health information which can empower individuals to make well-informed screening decisions. 

This session is for you if you: 

  • Have an active role in promoting health in your community or workplace and want to raise awareness of the NHS Wales screening programmes. 
  • Can have open conversations and share screening information in ways which are best suited to the people you work with. 
  • Are able to signpost people to screening resources including accessible formats.

The screening awareness sessions have been developed by the Screening Engagement Team. We work alongside the NHS Wales screening programmes within the Screening Division.   

As well as delivering training, we work together with groups and communities to raise awareness about NHS screening programmes, particularly in areas where uptake is low.  

Taking part in screening when invited is one of the things people can do to look after their health.  Finding a condition or disease early can give people the best chance of successful treatment.   

What will I gain from attending?

After attending the session, you will be able to:  

  • Talk about the NHS screening programmes offered in Wales. 
  • Know who is invited to screening, how they will be invited and when.  
  • Understand the benefits and risks of screening and the importance of making an informed choice. 
  • Recognise how health inequalities experienced by the people you support may impact them when they are invited to screening. 
  • Access and share up to date information about screening in different formats, for example, easy read. 
  • Promote screening within your community with posters, infographics, videos and other available resources.

We will be delivering the 3 hour screening awareness session on Microsoft Webinar or teams.  The sessions are delivered in Welsh and English. 

To book your place, select your preferred date and language below and click on the link.  This will take you to a registration form. Follow the instructions to complete the registration form. 

After submitting your completed registration form you will get an email with details on how to join the session.   

You will get a reminder email a few days before the session. Remember to flag this email for joining on the day.
