MECC training
Raising questions about health behaviours can be challenging, and not everyone feels confident doing so. Using the MECC approach requires a range of skills and knowledge to help people to:
- Feel confident in supporting individuals
- Guide conversations about health and wellbeing
Training and resources are a key element of the MECC programme. The success of MECC depends on:
- A national MECC Level 1 and 2 generic e-learning offer available across Wales
- Training opportunities available at a local and regional level
- Sustaining staff competence and confidence to deliver key messages
- Embedding MECC into everyday practice
It’s also important that staff and volunteers can signpost individuals to appropriate local, regional and national services.
