A report into the exploration of factors influencing the application of behavioural science within public health practice across Wales.
Behaviours play a key role in improving health and wellbeing.
Identifying and understanding behaviours and factors that influence them, and how best to address these factors is integral to achieving the ambitions of public health policy and practice. There is increasing evidence that public health interventions that are informed using behavioural science models and frameworks are more effective than interventions without a theoretical underpinning. To enable wide scale adoption of behavioural science, there is a need to better understand existing capabilities and operating environments/systems, and to identify how best to enhance and optimise the use of such approaches across the public health workforce in Wales. The Behavioural Science Unit, in collaboration with experts at the University of Bangor, explored factors influencing the application of behavioural science across Wales. This summary provides an overview of the methods, key
findings and reccommendations
