Mouth cancer

The Dental Public Health team in Public Health Wales analyses data from the Welsh Cancer Intelligence and Surveillance Unit and the Cancer Network Information System on an annual basis.

This provides information on the incidence of the different types of mouth cancer, differences between male and females and across age groups, most common sites, staging of presentations, mortality rates and who the patient presented to.

The information produced helps to inform prevention strategies and enable NHS Wales to better plan and deliver dental services that meet the identified needs.
