Bowel screening test kit instructions

This video tells you what you need to do to complete your bowel screening test kit.

Before you start you will need:

Your test kit, a pen, something to catch your poo, such as an old, clean container, toilet paper.

Step 1 – It is very important you write the date you take the sample on the test kit or we may not be able to test it.

Step 2 – You will need to catch your poo before it touches the water.

You can put a clean container or toilet paper into the toilet to catch your poo.

It is important your sample does not come into contact with the toilet water as we will not be able to test it.

Step 3 – Unscrew the lid of the tube to remove the stick.

There is liquid inside the tube but it cannot spill out.

Step 4 – Dip the end of the stick into your poo sample.

Only fill the two small grooves at the end of the stick. You only need to provide a very small sample.

Step 5 – Place the stick back in the tube. Close the tube by screwing the lid back on.

Step 6 – Remember to wash your hands.

Step 7 – Post your completed test kit straight away using the purple prepaid envelope. (You do not need a stamp.)
